TWIN FALLS COWBOYS 8, BLACKFOOT 3

Blackfoot couldn’t avoid the big inning in Thursday’s 8-3 loss to the Twin Falls Cowboys in the first round of the Double-A Area C Legion baseball tournament at Halliwell Park.

Twin Falls scored three runs apiece in the first and fifth frames. Blackfoot cut early 3-0 and 4-1 deficits to 4-2 before Twin Falls pushed it to 7-2 in the fifth. The Broncos also committed six errors.

Blackfoot (10-21) play Upper Valley at 1 p.m. Friday in a loser-out game.

The Single-A Pocatello Rebels dropped a pair of tight games Thursday at Twin Falls, 7-6 and 8-6.

In the opener, Twin Falls scored the winning run on a balk in the bottom of the seventh inning. In the nightcap, the Rebels led 6-2 before Twin Falls answered with five runs in the fifth.

Kyle Broncho went 4 for 4 in the opener and 3 for 3 in the nightcap to lead Pocatello (18-23-2). The Area C district tournament begins July 22 in Twin Falls.
