A baby is in critical condition and a Blackfoot man is in jail after officers responded to a residence to find the baby unresponsive.

Jesus Adan Castillo, 22, is in custody for felony aggravated battery and felony injury to a child.

According to police, on Thursday at approximately 4 a.m., Blackfoot police officers responded to a residence on the 1600 block of Camas Street to assist with an ambulance call for an unresponsive baby under the age of 2.

The baby was transported to Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot before being taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. The baby was in critical condition when transported.
