A Pocatello man was seriously injured in a head-on collision Friday night near Vale, Oregon, that took the life of the driver of another car.

According to Oregon State Police, Jeffrey D. Underwood, 55, of Pocatello, was driving westbound on Highway 20 about 20 miles west of Vale when a 1996 Ford Mustang driven eastbound by Nancy Jo Marshall, 60, of Juntura, Ore., for unknown reasons crossed the centerline and collided with Underwood's 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Marshall was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 10:40 p.m.

Underwood was transported by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise. His passenger, Joyce Underwood, 52, also of Pocatello, was transported by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario, Ore., with minor injuries.

OSP troopers from the Ontario Area Command are continuing the investigation.
