It was with great interest and pleasure I read of you introducing a resolution into the Idaho House decrying the persecution of Christians worldwide. While you did mention “all religions,” the thrust and majority of the wording of your resolution was specifically concerning Christianity alone.
Especially with the recent horrifying massacre of at least 50 Muslims, including children, in New Zealand by a white Christian nationalist, I would expect you to amend your resolution to decry persecution of Muslims.
You may have heard of the Holocost, let alone last year’s killing of Jews at their synagogue in Pittsburgh (let alone worldwide terrorist massacres of Jews over the year, also); therefore, I would anticipate it would be Christian of you to add Jews to your resolution.
And we haven’t even gotten to the Hindus, Sikhs & Pakistanis who are victims of the ongoing back-and-forth terrorism in the Indian subcontinent. Their suffering should be formally decried in your resolution also. Thirty-five percent of the population of Idaho are reportedly atheist and agnostic; I’m sure some of them have been persecuted also (let alone LBGT.....). They should qualify also.
I note that you are a graduate of the Air Force Academy, and are still a member of the Air Force Reserve. As I recall, you therefore took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. My recent review of the Constitution revealed to me that it does not limit any of the rights guaranteed therein to just one religion, sex, ethnic group, political party, etc. I would expect you to uphold that oath and, as part of it, amend your resolution to decry persecution to all, especially the weak, the minority, the defenseless.
Please do the right thing!
