North Gem 65, Aberdeen 31

BANCROFT - The North Gem girls' basketball team won a physical contest with 2A Aberdeen 65-31 on Saturday in Bancroft.

"We looked like what we're trying to get to look like," said North Gem coach Corry Hatch.

Natalie Simons and Kirsti Christensen scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, to lead the 1A Cowboys (1-1). Aberdeen got a team-high nine points from Sarah Wancey.

North Gem fell behind 7-3 in the first quarter but closed the stanza on a 17-2 run and didn't look back. North Gem visits Sho-Ban on Tuesday. Aberdeen (1-2) visits 1A Rockland that same night.
