North Gem 30, Murtaugh 14

MURTAUGH - North Gem pitched a shut out for three quarters, and Colton Davids ran for three touchdowns in a 30-14 Cowboys victory Friday in Murtaugh.

"He ran through a lot of tackles and kept his feet churning," North Gem coach Kevin Carey said of Davids. "He had really good blocks off the right side."

Blocking on the right side were Shawn Banks and Taylor Starks, and Davids was able to follow good blocks from fullback Mitchell Hall, Carey said.

Hall finished with 99 yards on 10 carries to back up Davids' 145-yard day.

North Gem built a 30-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter thanks to Davids' three scores and a 51-yard run by Hall. Freshman Tyler McLain also came up with two interceptions in addition to North Gem's two fumble recoveries.

Now 2-2, 1A North Gem has a bye next week before playing Richfield at 4 p.m. on Oct. 1.
