Car Accident - Generic

An Idaho Falls woman was injured when the Volkswagen Jetta she was a passenger in was involved in a two-vehicle accident at the Heise turn off along U.S. Highway 26 near Ririe Tuesday evening.

Idaho State Police troopers were called to the scene of the accident around 7:40 p.m. Officials say 55-year-old Idaho Falls resident Steven Lott was traveling eastbound on Highway 26 in a Volkswagen Jetta when he attempted to turn north onto 160th East.

Lott failed to yield and was struck by a Subaru Legacy driven by Skyler Higgins, 40, of Pocatello, according to ISP. Upon collision, Lott's vehicle rolled onto its top.

Lott's passenger, Denise Lott, 62, was transported by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. A health condition update was not made available to the media Wednesday evening.

All lanes of traffic were blocked for approximately 30 minutes in order for the medical helicopter to land.

Bonneville County Sheriff's Office deputies are assisting ISP with the  investigation.
