There are many fun things to do for anyone and every one in Southeast Idaho this weekend. From monster trucks to theater, to live music and more, there will not be a dull moment!

    There are several car shows going on this weekend.

    There will be a customer appreciation event and car show at the Bingham Cooperative in American Falls on Saturday. The car show will be from 4 to 8 p.m. and entry donations will benefit Charlotte Fire victims. There will be awards for entries. The customer appreciation event is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Co-op is located at 179 Harrison Sr. in American Falls. For registration, contact Brock or Angie, 208-226-2834 or 208-243-9031.

    Also, the Pocatello Elks Lodge will host the first annual Classic and Rod Show at the lodge, 410 S. Main St. in Pocatello from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Vehicle entry fee $10. Register your vehicle online at http://pocatelloelks.org. There will also be a free horseshoe tournament starting at 2 p.m. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served from 2 to 6 p.m. and there will be a “rock n’ roll dance from 7 to 11 p.m.  The Joe Wales band will perform. The dance is free to attend, but donations are encouraged.

    The fourth-annual Franklin County Car Show will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Preston City Park adjacent to the fairgrounds. The entry fee for the first car is $15 and $5 for any additional entries.  Open registration begins at 8 a.m. There will be 18 categories for cars, two for trucks and one for motorcycles.     For really cool trucks of a much larger and louder variety, check out the Rocky Mountain Monster Truck show tonight and Saturday at the Bannock County Fairgrounds in Pocatello. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m. All gate tickets are $15. Discount tickets available at C-A-L Ranch Store, $10 and online at rmmt.us. For more information, call 237-1340.

    And one of the most popular events of the summer, the annual RiverFest celebration is Saturday at Raymond Park in Pocatello. Now in its 19th year, the event will begin at 11 a.m. There will be live music throughout the day by the Eclectics, One Night Stand, Shawn and the Marauders, Blind Autumn throughout the day and Clumsy Lovers will headline the show at 7 p.m. The members of The Comedy Project will perform comedy sketches in between bands. There will also be free activities for the kids, food, vendors and a raffle for a chance to win a 2002 Buick Rendezvous. Beginning at 1 p.m. a shuttle will run between the Union Pacific Parking lot in Old Town Pocatello and the park every half hour.

    In conjunction with the festival, the first annual RiverFest Romp 5k run or walk will begin at 10 a.m., also at Raymond Park. There will be on site registration. Cost is $20 individual with a family/group of four rate of $60.

        If you like theater, go check out “Heaven Help the Po’Taters” at the American Falls Little Theater, located at 233 Idaho Street tonight, Saturday and Monday night. House opens at 7 p.m. and performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6, call 339-0830 to reserve tickets. This is an old-fashioned, family friendly melodrama about Idaho potato farmers complete with audience participation, sing-alongs, olio acts and more.

    And, the Back2School Giveaway 2012 will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Gate City Christian Church located at 202 W. Siphon Road. There will be many free items and services including backpacks and school supplies, clothing for kids and adults, medical and dental screenings, fire and police department health information and eye exams, hot dogs and refreshments, face painting, games, inflatable toys and several businesses providing services.
