Web a factor in area HIV spike
Bill Schaefer/Idaho State Journal Idaho State University clinical associate professor, David Hachey, Pharm.D., and nurse practitioner, Lee Abraszewski, at the ISU Pocatello Family Medicine Clinic, have seen a recent increase in the diagnosis of HIV in southeast Idaho, specifically in Pocatello and Blackfoot.

POCATELLO - Eleven local HIV cases discovered within the past three weeks all have ties to Internet dating, health officials said Thursday.

Counting the new cases, the Southeastern District Health Department has reported 19 positive HIV tests so far this year, compared with only eight cases reported for all of 2007.
