On Thursday August 1 at 7:24 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash eastbound on Interstate 86 at Raft River, exit 15 in the construction zone.

Due to the construction, the westbound on ramp to Interstate 86 was closed. Tracy White, 60 of Pocatello, attempted to use the eastbound off ramp to go west on Interstate 86 in a 2011 Kenworth semi. Timothy Briggs, 48 of Pocatello, was driving west on Interstate 86 in a 2005 Mazda B2300 pickup.

As White began to enter the traffic lanes, Briggs swerved to avoid hitting the semi. Briggs' vehicle ran off the road, causing him to lose control and overturn in the eastbound lane. No contact was made between the two vehicles. Briggs was transported by ground ambulance to Cassia Regional Medical Center.

Traffic was blocked both directions for approximately one hour. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash. The crash remains under investigation.
