JULIAETTA — Latah County Sheriff’s deputies found two people dead Thursday in a home near Juliaetta.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office distributed Friday, the deputies were responding to a welfare check at the residence when they found 66-year-old Kent Rotchy and 65-year-old Krysta Rotchy deceased.

Police say there is no evidence that other individuals were present or involved in their deaths.

The matter remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office thanked the Moscow Police Department and Idaho State Police for their assistance.

Juliaetta Mayor Nick Anderson posted a statement on Facebook expressing “deep sorrow” regarding the incident.

“This is a difficult time for many, and our hearts go out to the families and loved ones affected,” he stated. “We encourage our residents to come together in support of one another and to extend kindness and compassion during this time.”

Anderson asked the community to avoid speculation and allow law enforcement to continue their work.
