THORNTON — A harvest truck driver suffered injury after a car cut in front of him causing him to roll off Highway 20 at the Thornton Exit on Tuesday. Officials estimate the truck was hauling an estimated 40,000 pounds of potatoes.
The accident happened at about 12:30 p.m.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses reported seeing a car cut in front of the semi. As a result the trucker swerved, lost control and rolled off the highway into the medium.
Ambulance crews treated the man for injuries, later taking him to the Madison Memorial Hospital. The sheriff’s office reported the man was alert and talking shortly after being rescued from his badly damaged cab.
