For the third time in less than a week, a structure has caught fire on the Fort Hall Indian reservation.

The most recent blaze occurred Tuesday morning at approximately 3:30 a.m.

According to the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, the Fort Hall Fire Department responded to a single-wide trailer fire on Rio Vista Road just north of Cemetery Road.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found the trailer fully engulfed in flames. There was no one in the structure, and there were no injuries. However, the structure is considered a total loss.

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes said the trailer was used as a storage unit and weight room.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, but firefighters said it appeared to have started in the front room area.

A separate fire on B Street, which was reported early Friday morning, led to the arrest of a Wyoming man in connection to the death of a Fort Hall resident.

The fire at the house on B Street across from Fort Hall Elementary School was reported around 5:20 a.m. Friday. Fort Hall police and firefighters responded to the blaze and found the body of 20-year-old Fort Hall resident Francisco Martinez in the house.

Fort Hall police said they apprehended 32-year-old Rydon Teton (also known as Rydon Dixey) of Fort Washakie, Wyoming, on Friday night.

Teton is being held in connection to the death of Martinez, whose body was found in the burning home Friday morning by emergency responders.

Fort Hall police have not provided any information on Martinez’s cause of death or stated where Teton was arrested and what led them to connect him to Martinez’s death.

Fort Hall police said their investigation is ongoing and they area receiving assistance from the FBI.

A third separate fire reported at a residence on the Fort Hall Indian reservation last Thursday sent an area resident to the hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation.

The Fort Hall Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on Batt Lane at approximately 4:30 a.m. Thursday to a report of a structure fire.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found the home was completely engulfed in flames. The occupants in the residence evacuated the home prior to the firefighters’ arrival.

“There was one person who drove themselves to the hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation and was released shortly after,” said Fort Hall Fire Chief Brian Briggs in a news release.

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes said no other injuries were reported.

Briggs said the house fire started in a back bedroom.
