Motorcycle crash-Jefferson County

This is the scene after a motorcycle-car accident Thursday evening on State Highway 48 near Rigby in Jefferson County.

A 16-year-old Jefferson County motorcycle rider was in critical but stable condition after striking a car on state Highway 48 near Rigby about 6:27 p.m. Thursday, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

The accident happened when the juvenile was riding a Yamoto GY 200 motorcycle. The youth failed to yield when pulling out of a driveway into the lane of travel of a northbound 2013 auto. The auto was driven by Shane Jones, 28, of Rigby.

The teen was flown by air ambulance to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. The youth was not wearing a helmet.
