Jefferson County Sheriff’s officials say two people who were injured in separate stabbing incidents early Sunday morning have been released from the hospital. 

Juan Lopez, 24, of Rigby, was admitted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after he sustained a knife wound during a fight near Rigby; a 16-year-old male from Bonneville County was also admitted to EIRMC after he was stabbed in the back, stomach and chest areas during a fight in Roberts; his name has not been released.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday that both victims were released from the hospital this week. 

The stabbings occurred early Sunday morning during separate Quinceanera events, Latin American celebrations that mark a girl’s 15th birthday and transition into womanhood.

The more serious of the two incidents took place in a parking lot at 3937 E. 240 N. near Rigby, and ended in the fatal shooting of Rexburg resident Fermin Lemus, 22, sheriff’s officials said earlier this week. 

Emmanuel Jesus Granados, 23, of Idaho Falls, is facing a second-degree murder charge for his alleged role in the death. A hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to take that case to trial has been set for July 29. 

Lopez sustained a knife wound during the incident, but sheriff’s officials have not said how the injury occurred or if any additional charges will be filed against anyone. 

The second incident took place at a party that started in Idaho Falls and then moved to 599 N. 2300 E. in Roberts. 

During the fight that broke out there, a 17-year-old male from Bonneville County allegedly stabbed the 16-year-old victim multiple times, sheriff’s officials have said. 

The 17-year-old, whose name has not been released because he is a juvenile, is facing a charge of aggravated battery, sheriff’s officials have said. 

Alejandro Ramirez, 20, and Gabriel A. Ramirez, 21, both of Idaho Falls, were also injured in that incident, sheriff’s officials said earlier this week, adding that they were hurt while trying to break up the fight. Both Ramirezs were treated and released at EIRMC on Sunday.
