An accident involving three vehicles occurred on U.S. Highway 26 near Idaho Falls at Woodruff Avenue around 8:42 a.m. Tuesday, sending one man to the hospital.

    Idaho State Police officials further indicated that seat belts were worn by all three drivers and that weather did not play a role in the crash.

    Robert Shick, 37, of Idaho Falls, was traveling westbound on US26 when he failed to yield at the red light at Woodruff Ave, according to ISP.

    Shick's vehicle, a 1999 Landrover Discovery, then collided with a silver 2005 Ford F150 pick-up driven by Richard Lockyer, 53, of Idaho Falls. Lockyer was traveling northbound on Woodruff Avenue.

    Upon impact, Lockyer's vehicle hit a1997 Chevrolet Tahoe that was towing a small horse trailer. The Tahoe, driven by Ramon Vega-Marquez, 28, of Clearlake, Wash., was stopped on St. Leon Road on the north side of US26 facing south.

    Shick was transported by ground ambulance to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

    ISP officials say Lockyer and Vega-Marquez were not injured.

    Earlier in the day, Jason Melchor, 30, of Terreton, Utah, was traveling eastbound on State Highway 33 near the Sage Junction in a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban when he lost control of the vehicle due to slick road conditions.

    ISP troopers say the vehicle went off the roadway and overturned around 5:20 a.m.  

    Melchor was transported by a medical helicopter to EIRMC. The man was wearing his seat belt, according to ISP.
