BLACKFOOT — Blackfoot police responded to a two-vehicle accident involving a Blackfoot School District bus on Monday morning.

Capt. Kurt Asmus said the bus was traveling west on Walker Street around 11:30 a.m. when it stopped at a railroad crossing. A Volkswagen traveling in the same direction wasn’t able to stop in time and struck the back of the bus. Although there were three high school students and two adults on the bus at the time of the accident, Asmus said no one had to be transported to the hospital. The driver was the only person traveling in the Volkswagen.

Asmus reminds drivers that the roads are slick right now and they need to be cautious.

“You’ve got to slow down and increase the distances between cars,” he said.
