IONA — A local woman was hospitalized Tuesday after a crash involving a car and semi at the intersection of U.S. Highway 26 and North 55th East near Iona, according to Idaho State Police.
The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. when a 25-year-old Ririe woman was driving a gray 2012 Nissan Altima sedan eastbound on U.S. 26 approaching the intersection and collided with a 2019 Kenworth truck driven by a 63-year-old Idaho Falls man that was turning westbound from North 55th East, according to state police.
The woman was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. She was not wearing a seat belt, state police said. No updates on her condition have been provided.
Idaho State Police were assisted by the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, Bonneville County Emergency Medical Services and the Bonneville County Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Idaho State Police at 208-528-3408.
The names of those involved in the crash have not been released.
