RIGBY — The Rigby Junior High student who was taken into custody Monday after police say he was plotting to do bodily harm to his classmates has been formally charged with battery.
Rigby Police Department officials did not release the name of the accused on Wednesday but did indicate that he continues to receive treatment for his mental health.Â
Authorities were tipped off Monday around 10:30 p.m. after a threatening post appeared on a social networking site.
During the investigation, authorities indicated a bag of weapons was found at the student’s home, which included firearms. They say the student had also compiled a list of names whom he planned on targeting.
A preliminary court hearing was held on March 27, and the male has been placed in a juvenile detention center. His next court hearing is scheduled for April 1.
