Pacific storm may linger until Tuesday

Eastern Idaho can expect rain and snow today through Tuesday due to a Pacific storm passing through the region.

The storm was expected to arrive Friday, but most areas only received light rain. Some wet snow fell in the higher mountains.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather warning because of the stormy weather.

Today’s weather in Eastern Idaho and the Central Idaho Mountains will be mostly rainy except for the highest mountain peaks, which could get some snow. Sunday and Monday will see the rain gradually turn to snow even in lower elevation communities such as Pocatello, Idaho Falls and Blackfoot.

Up to 6 inches of snow could fall on the region Sunday through Monday, with the mountains getting the highest amounts.

The storm will also bring windy conditions, especially on Sunday and Monday.

More valley rain and mountain snow is possible on Tuesday as the storm leaves the region.

Daytime high temperatures Saturday through Tuesday in Eastern Idaho will be in the 40s in most places but could dip into the 30s in higher elevations such as Montpelier, Soda Springs, Driggs and Island Park. Nighttime lows will be near or below freezing region-wide.

Most of the rest of Idaho as well as Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Oregon are expecting the same stormy weather that's going to hit Eastern Idaho.
