POCATELLO — Firefighters successfully extinguished a grass fire in a field surrounded by homes in Pocatello on Friday afternoon.

The fire, which scorched approximately 1 and 1/2 acres of land in a field between Hyde Avenue and Spence Place, was first reported at approximately 1:20 p.m. 

According to the Pocatello Fire Department, a few fences and a playhouse were damaged by the fire, while a home possibly sustained some minor external damage. 

Officials also said the fire burned a power pole. Idaho Power is currently at the scene fixing a transformer.

Luckily, Pocatello firefighters were able to stop the fire before it could cause severe damage to any of the surrounding residencies. 

The Pocatello Fire Department had three crews at the scene working to battle the blaze. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
