The Soda Springs Cardinals have done what no one else was able to do for some time — beat Marsh Valley.

In overtime, the Cardinals made 10-of-11 free throws and beat the Eagles 50-42 in Soda Springs Wednesday night.

We came out and we wanted to see if we could compete with a good team,” said Soda Springs head coach Wade Schvaneveldt.

The Cardinals, ranked No. 2 in 2A, avenged their only loss for the season (a four-point loss Nov. 14 at Marsh Valley) and move to 8-1 for the season. The Cardinals were led by Andee Neuman’s 15 points.

Marsh Valley, in its first loss in 31 games,  falls to 5-1 for the season. Kami Hansen, with 11 points, was the Eagles leading scorer.
