POCATELLO — Nine high school students from Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 were selected to participate in the All-Northwest Honor Band and Choir Groups in Portland, Ore. They will perform the afternoon of Feb. 17 at the Portland Convention Center.

    Those students selected to perform are:

    Century High School: Directors Colin and Joyce Brien; Lucas Andersen, band, bass clarinet; Erica Bringhurst, mixed choir; Nicholas Bringhurst, mixed choir; Lydia Delehanty, treble choir; David Dinger, mixed choir.

    Highland High School: Directors Bret Scherer and Jay Ronk; Matthew Armstrong, mixed choir; Riley Lott, mixed choir; Sarah Melancon, band, clarinet; Kyle Peck, band, French horn.

    The students were selected from among 5,200 applicants in six Northwest states. Students competed in a rigorous audition to be selected. Currently, they are working together before their Sunday performance.

    The six states that make up the Northwest division of the National Association for Music Education include Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington and Alaska.
