CHUBBUCK — A demolition wrecking crew dug into the side of the Johnny B Goode’s diner Monday, clearing the way for a 4,630-sq-foot structure.

    The new Maverick Country store is set to open during the first part of Jan. 2014, if not sooner.

    “The superintendent is motivated to complete this project ahead of schedule,”

says Ray Griffin, city of Chubbuck public works office inspector. “He's pushing to get it done before Christmas.”

    The crew with R&O Construction out of Ogden, Utah has already demolished the building, removed the concrete and replaced it with dirt.

    “The gas station will look very similar to the one on Alameda (Road). It’s the same design regarding the interior and exterior of the building,” Griffin says. “A big canopy will be constructed out front for the fueling area.”

     The owners of the facility, as per listed on the building permit, are those with the Maverick Corporation based in Salt Lake City. They recently purchased the property at 4564 Yellowstone Ave.

    “I think the fact the store will be located next to a new traffic light helped them make the decision,” Griffin said.

     A new traffic signal light has been installed at Yellowstone Avenue that connects Evans Lane with the newly constructed Knudsen Boulevard.
