IDAHO FALLS — Work to construct the new Pancheri Drive overpass is underway, and motorists can expect to use caution at night in the northbound lanes of traffic along Interstate-15 between Exit 98 near Rose Road five miles north of Blackfoot through this Wednesday, October 24.

    According to the Idaho Transportation Department, Idaho State Police and ITD pilot cars will slow traffic intermittently to 25 miles-per-hour or less between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The goal is to allow construction crews south of Idaho Falls enough time and space to remove the old Pancheri Drive overpass.

    Furthermore, drivers should expect repeated 20-minute delays.

    In addition, on-ramps in the slow-down area between exit 98 and the work area near Idaho Falls exit 118 will be blocked when pilot vehicles pass. Flaggers will be directing traffic at the on-ramps.

    Travel in the construction zone will also be reduced to one lane.

    The new Pancheri Drive overpass that’s under construction just south of the old overpass is expected to be complete in early November, with seal coating planned for sometime in 2013.
