BOISE — A Montpelier man was sentenced Wednesday to ten years in prison in connection with an insurance fraud case, according to Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden.

     Terry L. Melvin, 39, was also ordered by Fourth District Judge Cheri Copsey to pay $10,000 in court fees, as well as restitution in the amount of $591.

     While receiving workman’s compensation benefits, officials say Melvin was videotaped walking around, riding a bike and climbing stairs with no apparent discomfort.

    The man plead guilty to one count of insurance fraud on August 15, 2012.

    The case was investigated by the Idaho Department of Insurance and prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Rondee Blessing with the Attorney General’s Insurance Crimes Unit.
