Grain elevator incident

Emergency units on the scene of Friday’s incident in which a man was trapped in a grain elevator near Pocatello Regional Airport.

A McNabb Trucking worker who was trapped in a grain elevator near Pocatello Regional Airport is improving and is now in stable condition, authorities said Monday.

The man, whose name has not been released, was transported via ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello for treatment of life-threatening injuries on Friday after he got trapped by the elevator's auger, according to the Power County Sheriff's Office.

Several emergency units from Pocatello, Chubbuck, Fort Hall and Power County responded to the 4:30 p.m. incident inside the grain elevator at McNabb Trucking on Beechcraft Avenue. The worker was listed in critical condition at PMC on Saturday, but his condition has since improved and he is now stable. 

It took emergency responders more than two hours to free him from the auger, authorities said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Power County Sheriff’s Office.
