FORT HALL — A Fort Hall man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a Fort Hall woman on Wednesday evening, according to a press release from the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.

Tribal officials said Fort Hall police responded to a phone call at 6:41 p.m. about a shooting at a residence on Cemetery and Rio Vista roads. The victim, Seleste Stone, was treated and released at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, where she was transported via ambulance after being shot, according to the press release.

Stone told tribal authorities she was shot by Creston Kindness of Fort Hall, who reportedly fled the scene in a stolen vehicle and then led Fort Hall police on a high-speed chase.

After police used spike strips to disable the stolen vehicle, Kindness fled on foot but officers chased him down and apprehended him, according to the press release. Authorities did not say where on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation that Kindness was arrested.

He’s currently being held at the Fort Hall corrections center.

The FBI and Fort Hall police are investigating the case.

“There is no danger to the community as the suspect is behind bars and Ms. Stone is being treated,” Fort Hall Police Chief Pat Teton said in the press release. “We are currently finishing all aspects of the investigation and will release more information as it becomes available.”
