POCATELLO — A local man who police had to forcibly remove from his car early Saturday morning after he allegedly assaulted a woman, was charged with three felony counts, including rape, first-degree stalking, domestic battery.

    He was also charged with using a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony, a charge that if proven could enhance any penalties should he be convicted on any of the other charges.

    According to police, Ramon Santiago Garcia, 26, went to the alleged victim’s workplace at 5 a.m. Saturday morning, following her home when she left work an hour later. Police say the alleged victim said she saw a pistol is Garcia’s waistband.

    Based on the woman’s information, Garcia was sought out and stopped in his vehicle on the 800 block of Barton Road, where police made repeated attempts to remove him from the car.

    Pocatello’s Immediate Response Unit and Negotiators were sent to the scene. Ultimate, unspecified chemicals had to be used to flush Garcia from the vehicle, police said in a release.

    Garcia had his initial hearing on the charges Monday afternoon and is slated for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 4. He remains in Bannock County Jail in lieu of posting a $75,000 bond.
