Whether one is frantic for Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens or krazy for Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers, the fun fact is that it’s much more exciting to watch today’s Super Bowl XLVII with a group rather than alone.

    So in keeping with that idea, the Journal has put together a list of local venues that will host Super Bowl events, or, at the very least, offer specials on the big day.

    The game is sort of an anniversary for Eddie Romero and his Wing-It business, since he moved into his current location at 465 Yellowstone Ave. Suite A after a four-year stint at the Tough Guy Bowling Lanes, a week before last year’s contest.

    “This is a special time for us,” Romero, a native of Pocatello said. “Not only is it a great time for people to pick up wings and sandwiches and things, but it’s a year since we’ve been in this great location. We also have a terrific landlord and things are going well here.”

    To celebrate, Wing-It is offering a special coupon for a free 12-piece order of wings when a 50-piece wing order is placed. Customers can take out, of course, but with three big-screen plasma TVs, parties can be held at the Yellowstone location. Romero urges patrons to order as early as possible.     Another popular big game event will take place at Ruby Tuesdays, located at 2365 Via Caporatti Drive. A $30 ticket will get you two drinks, a raffle opportunity and a dinner.

    Food items include grilled-to-order burgers and hot dogs, as well as ribs, chicken and wings and dips, among other things.

    The First National Bar will hold its traditional Super Bowl bash complete with their popular chili cook-off (10 entries), a football toss game, a Best Dressed NFL team competition and a chance to win a boatload of prizes, including MP3 and DVD players, a chess set and camping and fishing gear — more than $600 worth of giveaways.

    Sports fans have been frequenting the Press Box Sports Bar for years for multiple television screens and great food, and this Sunday is no exception. There will be food and drink specials all afternoon and evening as well as a raffle featuring jerseys and other memorabilia from Baltimore and San Francisco.

    Another large shindig will take place at the Sand Trap Bar and Grill (2720 Bannock Highway) beginning at 11 a.m.  With rib specials, $12 buckets of beer as well as shirt, jersey and gift certificate giveaways at halftime, this promises to be one of Pocatello’s most talked about events.     Nothing says food, fun and watching football more than a few hours at the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant located at 4000 Pole Line Road.

    Today, it gets even crazier with a special offer of free Miller Lite beers from kickoff until the first score. If this is a defensive struggle, there’s going to a lot of free brews and a lot of happy customers.

Restaurants selling pizza, sandwiches, wings and other Super Bowl party food are advising patrons to places their orders as soon as possible and they urge everyone to drink responsibly and drive safely.
