The Idaho State Journal won more than 40 awards in recent journalism competitions.

Last week in the Utah-Idaho-Spokane Associated Press Association competition the Journal won 14 awards, including first place finishes for investigative reporting, spot news coverage and column writing.

In the recent Idaho Press Club contest the Journal won 30 awards.

Journal Editor Ian H. Fennell pointed out that in both contests the ISJ won more awards than any other newspaper of its size.

“Covering the news in Eastern Idaho keeps us very busy so it’s nice to get a pat on the back in the form of so many awards,” Fennell said. “The accolades are great but the real rewards come in the form of the interaction we have with our readers on a daily basis. We’re thankful when people provide us with story ideas and let us know what’s going on in their communities. That’s often how award-winning stories get their start.”

Below is a list of the Journal’s awards.
