POCATELLO — Local author and Pocatello firefighter Kirby Jonas will be signing his book, “The Secret of Two Hawks” Dec. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m., at Idaho Unlimited, 215 E. Cedar St., Pocatello.

This book has earned Jonas the honor of the 2010 Best Western Novel in Audio from Western Writers of America. In June 2011, he went to Bismarck, N.D., and in front of hundreds of his colleagues he received the award. The book has now come out in large-format paperback.

Jonas began his career in 1994, with “Season of the Vigilante.” Since then he has published 11 novels, and had one of them narrated on audio by actor James Drury, who starred in “The Virginian.” Jonas’ fourth novel, “Death of an Eagle,” was named the number-one best-selling Western in the nation in January 1999. His book, “Legend of the Tumbleweed,” was also number one on the best-selling books chart at Waldenbooks in 1999.

Jonas is a former firefighter with the Bureau of Land Management and was also a police officer.
