Job layoffs to hit Inkom hard
The Ash Grove Cement Co. plant in Inkom plans to lay off about two-thirds of its 68 workers. The losses of good-paying jobs are expected to hit the community hard.

INKOM - Residents of this town appear dazed by the parent company's plan to suspend clinker production at the Ash Grove Cement facility on Jan. 1, resulting in approximately two-thirds of the 68 employees to be laid off.

"It's devastating," said Marilyn Brown, Inkom's city clerk/treasurer and a lifetime resident of the town. "It'll impact our economy."
