POCATELLO — Are you interested in learning to sew? Pocatello Sewing School’s monthly “Introduction to Sewing” workshop will be held on Tuesday, July 16 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This three-hour class for adult non-sewers begins with an introduction to fibers and fabrics. Basic sewing tools are shown, sewing machine components are introduced, and participants learn about sewing safety. They will then use the school’s sewing machines to create two simple sewing projects.
With a small class and lots of personal attention, students learn enough at this brief workshop to begin creating projects on their own sewing machines at home. Previous students have told PSS owner Hanna Geshelin that they gained enough confidence to begin experimenting with sewing machines that they already owned, but were too intimidated to use.
The fee for the Introduction to Sewing workshop, which includes tuition and materials, is $45. If two students register together they each receive a 10 percent discount. Preregistration is required.
Students with some sewing experience but new or rusty skills are invited to register for the Sewing Refresher class, which will be held Monday, Aug. 12 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. In this class they will use a paper pattern and practice some basic garment construction skills. The $60 fee includes tuition and reusable pattern. Fabric and thread are provided by participants; a materials list is sent at the time of registration.
The Pocatello Sewing School is near the corner of Pine and Hyde Streets in Pocatello. For more information on these and other classes visit www.PocatelloSewingSchool.com or call 208-240-6807.
