CHUBBUCK — While the tracks and streets may be too coated with ice to go for a race or ride, the Pocatello Car Club has whipped up alternative entertainment to please car lovers and admirers this weekend with the introduction of their first Winter Indoor Car Show.

Set for Saturday and Sunday in the Pine Ridge Mall, the indoor car show is free to the public and will feature over 50 entrees including everything from muscle cars to motorcycles brought in by local businesses and individuals alike.

Phil Meador Automotive Group, the title sponsor for the event, will also have cars on display to view, along with several other sponsors.

Bridger Andres, a local rally racer who has helped his father, Brad Andres, get the Pocatello Car Club up and running, will emcee the event and encourages families to hit the mall Saturday and Sunday to view the car collection gathered and shop at local stores.

“We’re trying to (make) it family oriented,” said Bridger, 18. “(With) all of our car shows we are trying to get kids to come out, make it a father-son event…. We’ve got tons of stuff for people to do here at the mall, and would like to get kids and families out liking cars.”

In attendance will be Pocatello resident and Formula Drift Pro 1 driver Rudy Hansen, who is the only driver from Idaho to make it to that elite level, explained Brad Andres.

Hansen and his wife and drift team partner, Chellee Hansen, will be situated by their Nissan S13 Hatch, LS Swapped drift car. On Saturday at noon and 5 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m., Hansen will be signing autographs and answering any questions the public has for him about drift racing.

An award ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the car show with Phil Meador Automotive Group handing out awards, which will include prize money and customized plaques. The categories for the awards will be Performance, Custom and 4 x 4.

The other sponsors, which include Cold Lead, Booth Architecture, Snap-on, Premier Collision Center & Powder Coating, Premier, AMSOIL and D.L. Evans Bank, will also be awarding prize money and trophies to their top picks for the Best in Show, and Team 116 Racing will award prize money and a trophy to their pick for Best Bicycle.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

“We want people to come by and check out the cars and maybe leave a donation,” said Bridger.
