The Idaho Department of Correction is investigating an apparent suicide at one of its facilities Wednesday morning.
A correctional officer found Bowdrie Chatterton, 20, hanging in his cell in the Idaho Maximum Security Institution earlier this month, according to a news release from the Idaho Department of Correction. Staff began lifesaving procedures, and paramedics took Chatterton to a Boise hospital. Chatterton was pronounced dead about 5:30 a.m.
Bowdrie was sentenced to prison in a Caribou County case, according to the Idaho Department of Correction website. He was convicted of two cases of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child younger than 16, one from 2017 and one from 2018. He would have been eligible for parole in 2023.
