A gouge in the concrete, approximately 150 yards in length, now exists on Interstate 86 near American Falls due to an accident involving a milk trailer, according to Idaho State Police.
Kenneth Jones, 47, of Blackfoot was traveling in the westbound lane when the 2000 Kenworth tractor-trailer he was operating became separated from the milk trailer. The accident occurred around 1 a.m. Thursday.
It took officials several hours to work on the roadway, so that all lanes of traffic could be reopened. No one was injured.
On Thursday afternoon, ISP troopers investigated a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Blackfoot.
Nathan J. Hanson, 37, of Pocatello was injured when the 2000 Chevrolet C15 pickup truck he was driving went off the left side of the roadway over a raised berm and rolled before coming to rest on its top.
Hanson was not wearing a seat belt, according to ISP. He was transported by ground ambulance to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls for medical treatment.
The left lane of I-15 in the northbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately an hour.
