A high pressure weather system over the Eastern Idaho area has continued to degrade air quality in Franklin County.

Air Quality Monitoring Coordinator Marshall Magee Air with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality says the lower Cache Valley air quality level lies in the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” category. The upper Cache Valley, however, has been holding steady in the moderate category.

The burn ban remains in effect, which means there is a local residential wood burning restriction in place. Outdoor, open burning is also prohibited.

Experts advise that Individuals who have respiratory sensitivities should decrease their time outdoors.
