TERRETON — A rear-end collision on Highway 33 east of Terreton Monday morning triggered a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles that sent three people to the hospital, Idaho State Police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:37 a.m. at the intersection of North 1300 East when a black 2023 Freightliner driven by a 36-year-old Terreton man rear-ended a silver Honda Accord driven by a 27-year-old Terreton man, both traveling eastbound on Highway 33, state police said.

The force of that impact pushed both vehicles into the westbound lanes, where they collided with a silver 2000 Dodge Caravan driven by a 72-year-old Idaho Falls man and a white 2018 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 44-year-old Pocatello man.

The drivers of the Honda, the Dodge Caravan and the Chevrolet Silverado were transported by ground ambulances to a local hospital. Their names and conditions were not released.

The Freightliner's driver was not reported as injured. All four drivers were wearing seat belts, state police said.

Highway 33 was blocked in both directions for approximately two hours following the crash.

Idaho State Police were assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Jefferson County EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
