IDAHO FALLS — Idaho Falls Fire Department officials say a controlled burn that got out of control on Monday destroyed a mobile home, pickup truck and camping trailer.
Officials said people were burning ditch banks on the 9000 block of 85th East, east of Idaho Falls, around 3:30 p.m., when the fire got out of control.Â
The flames spread to a neighbor’s mobile home, and burned a pickup truck and camping trailer before firefighters were able to extinguish the flames, officials said, adding that it caused an estimated $15,000 in damages. No one was injured in the incident.Â
Fire officials are warning people to take extra precautions when they use fire to clean up their properties, especially since they are liable for any damage they cause. They encourage people to build barriers to keep the fire from spreading before they light it, and not to leave the fire once they start it. They also caution people not to light any fires on windy days.Â
