BLACKFOOT — A garage fire in Blackfoot on Friday evening caused roughly $40,000 in damage, according to officials with the Blackfoot Fire Department.

Fire Chief Kevin Gray said the fire started in a garage, located at the corner of Meridian and McAdoo, around 5:30 p.m.

Someone had been grinding metal in the area earlier that day, Gray said, adding that some leftover embers apparently reignited and started the blaze.

Firefighters remained on scene for roughly three hours, but they weren’t able to keep the flames from destroying the garage, Gray said.

No one was injured in the incident.
