Roosters Grazing Restaurant in Montpelier recently celebrated its first anniversary in business, with owners Felix Morales and his daughter Alison Morales expressing gratitude for the community's support.

"Let me tell you about my father," Alison said. "I am very proud of my dad. He wanted to own a restaurant his whole life, but never thought it would happen. He is a very hard worker and works from open to close. He is happy to serve and feed people."

The restaurant, located at 1017 Washington St., Suite A, has earned a strong clientele in just one year, with many patrons becoming regulars who appreciate the generous portions and fresh, made-from-scratch menu items.

"I love my dad, and I want him to be happy," Alison said. "I am so proud of his accomplishments. He is always happy to accommodate everyone and does his best to never say no. He finds a way to not say no. There is really nothing we can't do."

She credited the restaurant's supportive staff who work hard to accommodate guests.

"They are happy to serve," she said.

Felix Morales brings diverse culinary experience to Roosters Grazing. Before opening the restaurant, he worked at fairs throughout Wyoming and Idaho, spent many years at a restaurant in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and gained knowledge from several other establishments offering different cuisines.

The restaurant prides itself on making everything fresh in-house, providing fast friendly service and thoughtful extras like Braille menus for visually impaired guests.

"We believe everyone deserves a seat at the table," Alison said.

Fan favorites include Felix's Asada Fries and ribeye filet steaks.

The path to opening Roosters Grazing began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Felix needed a way to make a living and started a catering business from his home. He would post daily menus on Facebook and sell packaged meals from his shed. The business grew through social media and word of mouth.

In November 2024, Felix saw a "For Rent" sign in a window in Montpelier.

"I love this quiet little town. Everyone is so nice to us. So I wanted to stay," Felix said. "And that is why we decided to open Roosters Grazing here."

The family-friendly restaurant offers dine-in service, patio seating and takeout, and caters events both on-site and off-site. Alison manages the front of the restaurant while Felix manages the back.
