POCATELLO — To help the community prepare for a possible disaster, the Pocatello fire and police departments are sponsoring an Emergency Preparedness and Safety Fair this Wednesday, Oct. 17 from 5-9 p.m. inside the Pocatello City Council Chambers, 911 N. 7th Ave.

    The fair will focus on educating the public on how to prepare and how to respond to a disaster.

    “Our community saw how quickly a wildfire can spread,” said PPD Lt. Paul Manning in a news release. “This highlights the need for all of us to prepare ourselves for any type of emergency, whether it is a natural disaster, a pandemic illness or a terrorist attack. You never know when it will be until the day of the disaster.”

     Participants will specifically receive information on how to prepare for an emergency by building a 72-hour emergency kit. Fire safety, crime prevention, and home safety tips will also be on hand.

    In addition, CPR demonstrations will be conducted at the fair.
