POCATELLO — The disabled homeless man who's lived on a street corner near Idaho State University since spring has apparently found a home.
Gary Kerness moved into a new residence this week, according to his friend Idaho Lorax.
Kerness has been absent from the corner of South Fourth Avenue and Benton Street in Pocatello for the past few days and people have noticed and speculated on what happened to him.
The Journal contacted local emergency services and hospital officials this week to see if Kerness had been hospitalized.
But Kerness is apparently OK and has secured an apartment, so that he will no longer be spending his nights on the corner.
Kerness and his wheelchair have become a common sight at South Fourth and Benton since early May, when he began residing on the corner next to the Albertsons grocery store parking lot.
City officials said Thursday that they did not know where Kerness' apartment is located but they plan on finding out to make sure he's OK.
