IDAHO FALLS — Those with the Idaho Wheat Commission announced they will be hosting a direct seed workshop for all southern Idahoans. It’s slated for Thursday, March 7 at the Idaho Falls Hilton Garden Inn, 700 Lindsay Blvd.

    The workshop will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

    Interested persons can register in advance by dialing (208) 334-2353 or by sending an e-mail to the following address: cathy.wilson@idahowheat.org.

    The title for this year’s workshop is “Soil Health and Soil Fertility.” Featured speakers include Ray Archuleta who teaches throughout the country the principles of soil quality and agro-ecology. He has 23 years of work experience with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, according to a news release.

     Elston Solberg is said to be a highly sought after keynote speaker who brings over 25 years of research expertise as the head Cereal Specialist and Research Agronomist with Alberta Agriculture. Solberg is one of the world’s foremost authorities on sulfur nutrition.

     Additional presentations include one given by Dr. Juliet Marshall with the  University of Idaho Extension program.

     Advanced registration is recommended, and the registration fee is $10. Lunch is provided.
