BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A member of the swim team at Boise’s Timberline High School helped rescue a woman who fell into an irrigation canal while picking flowers.

    Clay Kenyon tells KTVB-TV he was riding his bicycle Sunday evening when a man called out to him for help. Kenyon, who is 18, also heard the woman crying for help.

    Kenyon grabbed a flotation device from the man and got into the cold, swift-moving water.

    He says he got to the woman, handed her the foam “noodle” and told her to remain calm while he pulled her toward the side of the canal.

    KMVT-TV reports the woman, who is in her 70s, was pulled out of the water about 1.8 miles downstream from where she fell in.

    She was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
