    June 1, 1988: Four are vying for the Miss Idaho title at the Morrison Center in Boise. They are Amy Lyn Kendell, Miss Pocatello, Lisa Nelson, Miss Bear Lake County, Cheron Lemmon, Miss Franklin County and Brenda Ruth Eames, Miss Eastern Idaho.    

    50 years ago

    June 1, 1963: Patricia Ann Scholl received her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education. Her achievement is much more than a story of another success for a college student. Miss Scholl is nearly blind, from a rare eye ailment.

    June 1, 1963: The Kennedy administration is expected to ask Congress for new legislation to speed desegregation of schools and public accommodations. Voluntary removal of racial barriers in some southern states’ businesses also is being asked.
