Aug. 10, 1988: A South Korean businessman who helped Koreans get a taste of Idaho French fries, had a taste of Pocatello during a tour of the Pocatello Facilities Company. Woo Joo Chang said his fellow countrymen still call the potato dish “Idaho French fries.”
50 years ago
Aug. 10, 1963: Blue gentian blossoms from Switzerland brought together a Pocatello piano teacher and a Rhodesia educator, who had corresponded for two years but never met. The Pocatellan is Mrs. Fern Smith, Soroptimist Club, and her guest was Marjorie Sanders, president of Soroptimists in Rhodesia.
