POCATELLO — A company that provides industrial housing accommodations is planning to hire 50 new employees to work at its Pocatello facility.  

ATCO Structures & Logistics officials say they are looking for workers skilled in plumbing, electricity, heating and air conditioning, as well as general laborers. 

“We are very pleased to be increasing production and hiring skilled personnel locally,” company officials wrote in an email.

They added that they are increasing the manufacturing capacity at the Pocatello facility as a result of rising demand, recent contract wins in Canada, and an improving economic outlook.

ATCO officials are working with the Idaho Department of Labor to fill the needed positions, so those interested in applying for the posts can stop by the Idaho Department of Labor’s office in  Pocatello, located at 430 N. Fifth Ave., or visit ATCO’s website www.atcocareers.com.

Will Jenson, a regional economist with the Idaho Department of Labor, said he excited to see another company adding employees to its payroll, and he hopes the local economy will benefit as a result. 

“(Those employees) will be bringing in paychecks and spending money throughout the economy,” Jenson said, adding that more jobs could be created in other areas as a result.  

Dan Cravens, another regional economist with the Idaho Department of Labor, agrees. He said there is still a lot of unemployment in the construction industry in southeast Idaho, so the new positions are needed. 

“This will help folks find some really good employment opportunities,” Cravens said. 

Demand in the industry is always changing, but ATCO officials say they expect to have enough work for their employees in the months ahead. 

“Our industry is cyclical, but we anticipate these higher staffing levels to remain well into the autumn,” officials wrote in the email, adding that they will have roughly 150 employees at the Pocatello facility with the new hires.  

ATCO officials said they are grateful for the continued support of the local community.
