An Ammon woman died after being involved in a car crash around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday at Garnet and Ammon roads in Bonneville County.

According to Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office officials, Linda Vandekamp, 60, had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was then transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.

Vandekamp was driving a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo when she ran into the back of a 1998 Dodge pickup driven by Randall Richmond, according to the county report. Both vehicles were traveling in the northbound lane of traffic on Ammon Road.

Deputies indicated that Richmond was stopped at Garnet and Ammon roads waiting for oncoming traffic so he could make a left hand turn when Vandekamp ran into the back of the pickup truck.

Vandekamp was not wearing a seat belt, according to officials.
